I had to get in on the Pet Pictures. My little chihuahua is a bit harder to shoot because he NEVER lays down!! But I did get a few that I fell in love with. He just loves this monkey we got at PETCO. It is just the right size for him. I think we need to go get a few more since he likes it so much.

I love the glare he is giving to me. He's thinkinh "Really? Another picture? UUUGH OK!"

Taking Better Photographs - Photo Tip Tuesday Tip 7 - Geometric Shapes

Office News

We're going to continue down the path of composition in photos. Last week we talked about Horizon Lines. You can review our past Tuesday Tips on the blog. This week, we're going to talk about the use of geometric shapes.

In this first photo storyboard, Teresa used the triangular painted walls to show off the fun side of a couples' combined personalities. The use of shapes can add elements of humor to photographs.

In this photo, similar to Teresa's use of triangles, I used the huge drain pipes and their circular shapes to have a bit of fun with Nicole and Jason.

We photographed Matt when he was horsing around during his family photo session. It created a big X of sorts, and he just climbed up.

Repeated lines is another form of geometric shapes. Here we are using them with Kim and Scott during Christmas in Old Folsom.

Geometric shapes are fun! And can be more than what you may think is the standard shape, such as circles, squares, or triangles. You can come up with a variety of shapes and sizes if you just are on the look out for a bit of unusual back drops.

We are so happy to be featuring Shawna and Jeremy's wedding album. We spent quite a bit of time with Shawna and Jeremy during their stay out in California. They are from Pennsylvania. Their destination wedding was held at Wine and Roses in Lodi, California. It was a small intimate affair of about 40 guests.

The day was so low key...mellow...and enjoyable for all.

The ceremony held in the gardens at Wine and Roses was perfect! The sunlight was amazing.

Preparing for Your Wedding Photos - Tip 6 - Esession Props

Office News

This week's tip is about what to bring to an Engagement Session or Family Shoot. We love it when our clients bring props. We encourage it for a couple of reasons. First of all, it gives a little peak into who you are as a couple. The photos will not only commemorate you as a couple but also the things you like to do together or that were meaningful to you at that time in your lives and relationship.

In the lovely, below photo you can see that Jessie and Brian (April 2009) were totally on board with bringing props to their shoot. They went all out with their retro-themed Engagement Session. From their adorable Volkswagon Beetle to the flower in Jessie's hair, there were plenty of props that represented their personalities and their theme. Of course, we ate it up and it has been a favorite of ours since.

Engagement Session Props

Secondly, props are fun and help you relax a bit when first starting the session.

We tell our clients to bring any props they feel fit their personalities! They can include such things as musical instruments, games, frisbees, soccer balls, magazines, books, favorite candy, etc. We suggest you ask yourselves "what do we like to do together" or "what has special meaning to us" and this will give you ideas! Nothing is too silly!!!

Ann-Marie and Mark (May 2009) had a lot of fun ideas. One of their props was the guitars from their Rockstar game that they love to play together. Too cute!

Engagement Session Props

Jillian and Morgan chose more simple props. They adore reading together so they brought a blanket, a picnic basket and some of their favorite books. It's amazing how well props work to relax you for your Engagement or Family Photo Shoot. Props can take some pressure off and make folks more comfortable more quickly for their shoot. Try it, you'll see!

Shawna and Jeremy were married mid-week in June at Wine and Roses as a destination wedding. Their entire wedding party and guests flew in from the east coast.

Wine and Roses is located at 2505 W. Turner Rd, Lodi, Califorinia, 95242.

Teresa and I started the day photographing details - I love this ring shot!

Shawna and her girls took full advantage of the Spa at Wine and Roses.

Getting ready was a blast. Shawna is by nature a story teller and she speaks with her hands and is so animated. I could spend all day with her and love every minute of it. I especially loved the "lost car" story. :-)

Isn't she gorgeous?

Jeremy isn't too shabby either. The floral decor was provided by Chris of Big Bang Events.

The ceremony was just perfect with the setting sun.

The ceremony was officiated by Kevin Brown, and was enjoyable, entertaining, and meaningful.

The girls and guys were dressed in two colors - dresses and ties. I love that not all the dresses or ties had to match. It went well with Shawna and Jeremy's personalities.

This is one of my favorite photos of the entire day. I can't wait to show you more with their album design...in just a few weeks time. Click here to start the slideshow, or click the below image. Enjoy!

The vendors involved with Shawna and Jeremy's fabulous day are as follows:
Wine and Roses was the venue Shawna and Jeremy chose for their big day.
The florist Shawna and Jeremy chose was one of our favorites, Big Bang! Events. I've worked with Chris of Big Bang before and love his work! The flowers were spectacular!
Elite Entertainment provided music and entertainment for the evening.
Shawna and Jeremy's officiant was the wonderful Kevin Brown who we've also worked with in the past and thoroughly enjoyed his meaningful words.
