Last weekend Kirsten and I had the great pleasure of shooting a birthday party for a wonderful man. Happy Birthday, Amit! We had so much fun with everyone at the party. Carol and Amit chose such a beautiful setting for the party and invited their close friends and family for this event. It was a great opportunity to get some family photos while also documenting this special day.
Eric Adams of Bacchus Catering and Elegant Events referred these lovely clients to us and we were so thrilled to get the opportunity to shoot Amit's party for Carol and we're just delighted at the results. Great party, Amit, Carol and Eric!
Here is a sneak peak at some of the fun photos from the day.
The setting had a Napa theme. Eric used wine barrels as cocktail tables with huge umbrellas for shade. I just love the sunny sunflowers in the flower arrangements. |
| With the Napa theme of course came a great variety of wine and champagne. They were serving Carie's favorite champagne, Moet and Chandon White Star. I loved all the statues on the tables. The Napa feel was definitely carried throughout the party. |
| Aren't they one of the most beautiful couples you have ever laid eyes on?! This is one of our favorite shots from the day. Amit and Carol proving that love is not just reserved for weddings! |
| Carol wanted their friends and family to be able to enjoy themselves at the party without rushing home to relieve their baby-sitters. So, her and Eric planned accordingly and had a kids' play area at the party with their very own host of vendors. There was an old fashioned popcorn machine, deliciously fresh hotdogs (yes I tried one!) and sno-kones! |
| I love this storyboard with bunches of the cutie pies who attended the party. Look at all those adorable smiles...and SNO-KONES!!! Every kid had at least 3 of them. |
| Sometimes it's a bummer to be a grown-up. Like when you're too big to slide down the slide on a jungle gym. Doesn't this look fun? |
| Seriously, the kids were all so entertained. It was so nice for the parents and kids to be able to have a great time simultaneously at the same party. |

| If you're not hungry now, you will be after looking at all the deliciousness that was served. There was no shortage of fine food at this shindig. Eric with Bacchus Catering went above and beyond as usual. |

| The Dolanc String Quartet played at the party. They had mobile chairs and moved around so everyone could get a gorgeous ear-full. We've had the pleasure of working with these super talented and professional musicians in the past and we were so happy to see them again. |
| At dusk 300 string lights came on and the setting looked so lovely and elegant. I love lights! I could go on and on about Eric with Bacchus Catering and Elegant Events and his attention to details. It was one of the loveliest events we've been to this year. |

Just a week or so ago, I had the extreme pleasure of photographing a beautiful family at a Folsom park.
Daddy and son were dressed to match, which is so adorable. |
| And mommy did her best to brighten up Ethan's mood. |
| We had to negotiate to get this family photo...with an iPhone game. |
| The evening started out a bit "grumpy". |
| The reason is that once you are on a swing - you don't want to get off it! Ethan loved the swings! |
| I love this shot of Ethan and Zach. |
| And Nikki and Zach were able to get a few photos of just the two of them. |
| Once Ethan realized that it was okay to play - he perked right up! |

A few short weeks ago I met with Sean and Risha to take some holiday family photos. I've known Sean now since before his kids were born! The cutest two men in the family are Cameron and Christian. And Isabella (Bella) is the one with the best smile!
If you're wondering who those other two family members are...well that's Cosmo (blue collar) and Zoe (pink collar).
According to Sean when I asked about their pet names:
Cosmo's full name is technically "Kozmo Seal Bird Monkey Chewbacca." We believe he has a rich animal heritage in his ancestry unlike any other known canine. Zoe's given name is simply "Zo-zilla Collar Eater," but we call her Zoe for short. |
| The three kids were super eager and loved taking some sibling family photos when Sean and Risha stepped away to put the dogs in the car. |
| When I asked the kids to give a big group hug, they knew exactly what I meant! |
| And just a quick shot of Sean and Risha together. |
| Our last stop of the day in our family photo session was the painted poles at the corners of 16th and Q Street in downtown Sacramento. What a perfect prop for some super bright and colorful holiday photos. |
| As we walked back to the cars, good thing I kept my camera out, since the kids could barely contain themselves long enough so that I could grab this photo. The street sweeper had left a huge big pile of leaves right on the corner. |
| It didn't take long before that pile was a bit less of a pile. :-) |

The holidays bring families together and this Thanksgiving brought together the de Vere White family. The Memory Journalists met the de Vere's at their family pub - de Vere's Irish Pub. Last we shot photographs at the Pub was for their grand opening this last January.

Our Memory Journalists team has come to realize that you must be watchful of those with cameras in their hands. If you make that face - we will get it on film eventually! And worse yet, it will show up on the blog!

When you zoom in, which of course I did as I was processing....you'll see Carissa giving Mike a big wet kiss...or is that a lick!?! :-)
